Los Angeles (2025)
This project was made in the Northern Mojave Desert in and around old mining sites. There are two distinct parts of this project: images made by turning mineshafts, and discarded mining equipment, into camera obscuras. The paper negatives from these cameras are what’s presented. The other part of the project is photographing a large-scale discarded metal funnel at set increments of time from sunrise to sunset. The metal funnel is south-facing, so it acts as a sundial. This “sundial” was created at four different times of the year (spring, summer, fall, and winter) and is presented as a large grid.
